The Pay It Forward Effect

Honored to call my dear friend, Dustin Metzler, a world changer. He’s making our planet a better place on the daily. I knew he would do extraordinary things with his life, as he has a heart of solid gold.

A loving father of three, Dustin is also an honorable former serviceman in the Air Force, a loyal friend, founder of Kind Kids USA, & a loving husband! The list doesn’t stop there, as his latest project is simple in concept, but HUGE in impact.
He’s always been fascinated by the concept of Pay It Forward, so his curiosity moved him to create the Pay It Forward Effect group on Facebook!

HOW IT WORKS:

You receive a Pay It Forward Effect mailer containing cards! You perform big and small acts of kindness & pass the cards along encouraging the same to others. The recipients do the same & there is a ripple of goodness spread throughout the entire universe. Good karma goes a long way. One person can change the whole entire world!

When I received mine, I was overjoyed. I simply paid for the car behind me at our local Starbuck’s drive thru! My heart felt instantly warm & I was moved to do more. I took a moment to explain to my favorite barista, Liz, what my good buddy is up to. Liz agreed to pass the good deed card along to the lucky recipient behind me.

Who knows where that single city & state labeled card will end up!

Later that same afternoon, I scooped my 6-year-old, Hope, from school. As we were driving home, we noticed a homeless man on the corner of 44th Street & Indian School Road, without a drink. It’s 95 degrees in Phoenix. Hope mentioned blessing him & I took it upon myself to share the Pay It Forward cards with her. She held them in her hands & sounded out the words written on the back. She began brainstorming ways she could bless her classmates. It’s that simple.

To Starbucks we headed for a 2nd time. We bought our guy a warm high protein sandwich, a banana, & an ice water. We got one of those handy dandy brown bags with a handle & I popped a Pay It Forward card inside with the hope that our guy would pass on an act of kindness to a buddy!

We drove back, did a u-turn, & Hope handed our friend the brown bag of goodies from the backseat!

“Is this really for me?”

“Yes & here is some water! God Bless You!”

As we drove away, I looked in my rear view mirror & Hope was grinning. I asked her why she was smiling & she said, “We helped that man!!!”

If only we could do this every single day.

Dustin’s project is a wonderful reminder that we are here to be a blessing to others, to serve the world, & to be an extension of the big guy above! We’re called to help our fellow man in any way we are able!
